Interaction Objects, Computer Systems, Presentation, Standardisation, System Development, User Interface Design, Visual Performance. Terminal recommendations and rules from most standards generally include references to various interaction objects belonging to different target environments. Since these references are not made explicit, the standard user is responsible to make a pattern matching between rules contents and physical interaction objects. To avoid problems that such a translation induces, a common view on standardised interaction objects is suggested through the use of abstract interaction objects. By this way, recommendations and rules can be expressed independently of target environments without relying on various particularisms. INTRODUCTION Since European directive 90/270/EEC articles (EEC, 1990) are relatively general (Abernethy, 1993), they are often linked to relevant parts of another standard related to human-computer interaction, i.e., ISO 9241 (ISO, 1992). Part 10 of this standard contains different recommendations on dialogue principles to be applied for assessing usable user interfaces (fig. 1). This part subsumes links to other part of the same standard which are related to different interaction styles (e.g., Presentation of Information in Part 12, User Guidance in Part 13, Menu Dialogue in Part 14, Direct Manipulation Dialogues in Part 16, Form Filling Dialogues in Part 17). EU-Directive ISO 9241 Part 10 Recommendations

3D Interaction Widget: A Metaphor for 2D and 3D Lens Interaction

The ever-growing use of 3D graphics and the possibility of realtime interaction poses a need for methods which support manipulation tasks of 3D objects within the 3D virtual environments. The same applies to the current field of research on 3D lenses in virtual 3D city models [26] which require proper interaction metaphors for virtual lenses. Therefore, a novel 3D interaction widget is introduc...

Although the design and implementation of the basic concept itself took a substantial ...
